Score Your Title Tag Before Google Rewrites It
This tool checks your title tag against the length and pixel-width limits Google typically applies in search results, so you can see whether it risks being cut off in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). It also flags common issues like a keyword buried too far from the start or wording that duplicates your meta description. A high score does not guarantee Google will display your title as written, since it can and does rewrite titles it judges to be a better match for the query.
What a title tag score is telling you
A title tag is the first thing most people see about your page before they click, whether that's in a Google search result, a browser tab, or a link shared on social media. This tool reads the title tag on a page and scores it against the factors that affect whether it gets clicked and whether it survives being displayed in full.
What gets checked
- Length in characters and in pixel width, because Google truncates titles by display width.
- Whether the primary keyword sits near the front of the title, where a searcher's eye lands first
- Whether the title just repeats the page's H1 word for word, which wastes the chance to say something different to search users than to page visitors
- Whether it reads like something a person would click.
Why the score moves the way it does
A title truncated in the search results loses whatever sat in the cut-off portion, so a call to action placed at character 58 is doing no work at all. Keyword position near the front matters less for ranking than it used to and more for scanning, since a reader decides whether to read the rest of a result based on the first few words alone.
When to reach for something else
This scorer looks at one title tag in isolation. To see how that title actually renders next to its meta description in a mocked-up result, the SERP Snippet Previewer shows both together. To audit title tags across a whole site, the Meta Tag Checker is built for that, and a fuller explanation of how the scoring works, including the parts that come down to judgement, sits in the Title Tag Scorer guide.
The score is a prompt. It can flag a title as too long or too keyword-heavy when the phrasing is deliberate and performs fine in practice, so treat a low score as a reason to look again.

What this tool cannot see
- It cannot see how Google will actually render or rewrite your title in live search results: Google sometimes replaces titles it does not like.
- It only models the desktop pixel limit of roughly 600px at 20px Arial. Mobile width limits are different and are not modelled here.
- It cannot see your meta description, your page content, or your current ranking position.
- Font rendering is an approximation. Actual SERP fonts vary slightly by device, browser and operating system.
- Nothing you type is sent anywhere: all scoring happens locally in your browser.
