Preview Your Page's Google Snippet Before You Publish

This tool shows how your title tag and meta description are likely to appear in a Google search result, using approximate pixel widths similar to those Google applies before truncating text. Paste in your title and description to see exactly where they get cut off, then rewrite until the full message fits within the limit. Google renders snippets differently depending on the query and device, so treat the preview as a close estimate rather than a guaranteed match.

What the preview shows, and where it falls short

What you're looking at

The previewer renders your title tag and meta description as a mocked-up search result, measured in the pixel widths Google typically applies. Paste in a URL, or type a title and description directly, and you'll see roughly where the line breaks and where truncation is likely to kick in.

Why pixel width beats character count

Google doesn't cut titles off at a fixed number of characters, it cuts them off at a fixed width in pixels, and because a capital "W" takes up far more space than a lower-case "i", two titles with an identical character count can display very differently. A title built from narrow letters might fit comfortably where one full of wide capitals gets clipped several words earlier. This is the main reason a plain character counter gets the answer wrong more often than it should, and it's worth checking separately on mobile and desktop, since Google allows different widths on each.

What you wrote is not always what Google shows

Google rewrites titles and descriptions in a meaningful proportion of results, pulling wording from page headings, body text, or even other sites linking to yours, when it judges the original tag doesn't match the query well. This tool can only show you what you've written, formatted the way Google would display it if it left your tags alone. It cannot tell you when a rewrite will happen, because that decision is made at query time and depends on the search, so treat the preview as a check on formatting rather than a guarantee of what will appear in front of a searcher.

Where this fits alongside other checks

Draft the title and description first, then use this previewer to catch truncation and awkward wrapping before publishing. For scoring the title tag itself against length and structure conventions, the Title Tag Scorer does that job directly. The Meta Tag Checker confirms whether your meta tags are present and correctly formatted in the page's HTML. Neither tool, nor this one, replaces watching how a listing performs once it's live in Google's own results.

SERP Snippet Previewer

Enter a title tag, meta description and URL to see roughly how the result may look in Google search, on desktop and mobile. Widths are measured in pixels, not just characters, so you can see exactly where a search engine is likely to cut the text off with an ellipsis.

This tool cannot see:

  • How Google actually renders your result today: fonts, spacing and pixel limits change without notice, so this is a close approximation, not a guarantee.
  • Rich results such as star ratings, sitelinks, images, FAQ drop downs or knowledge panel data.
  • Whether your page will actually rank or be indexed at all.
  • Any data from your site, Search Console or Google's servers. Everything here runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
